We've been enjoying wines from Filipa Pato for quite some time now, and have had our eyes on the 3B sparkling rose brut nature as one to try.
This one is quite the interesting bottle, and, for those curious, the 3B element stands for the grapes, Baga and Bical, as well as the origin- Bairrada!
So if you're in the mood for an easy-drinking sparkling rose from Portugal, give this one a try!
3B- Baga, Bical, and Bairrada
This sparkling rose from Portugal was medium pink in color with medium aromas of red cherry, watermelon, cream, toast, wet stone, grapefruit, orange marmalade, pear, and raspberry.
On the palate, it was dry with medium acidity, body, flavor intensity, a delicate and creamy mousse, and a medium(+) finish. We had flavors of raspberry, red cherry, strawberry, watermelon, wet stone, cream, brioche, toast, and rose petals.
This one had a wealth of aromas, perhaps a bit more complex on the aromas, but all around came together for an easy drinker with flavors that we quite enjoyed.
Portuguese Sparkling Rose food Pairing – Chicken Tinga Tacos
We paired this wine with chicken tinga tacos, which were spice-forward without being too spicy. We thought a sparkling wine would hold up to the intensity of this one, since we can make the tacos pack quite a punch.
We had some delicate red fruit flavors come out in this pairing, as well as a pleasant pop of white blossom that we did not notice when tasting the wine on its own. For a spice-rich dish, this one held up and then some, which we fully appreciated.
Score 3 / 5
We'd buy a glass of this one.
We don't drink a lot of sparkling rose and sparkling Portuguese wines, so to give this bottle from Filipa Pato a try with both was a treat. For its price point, we absolutely would always be up for another glass of this one!
Filipa Pato Winery is located at Vinhos Unip., Lda. Rua de Sto. André, 41 3780-502 Óis do Bairro – Anadia, Portugal. We purchased this bottle locally and enjoyed it in 2026.
