Ascheri Barolo 2020 Review – A More Approachable Nebbiolo

One thing I am a sucker for at wine shops is a recommendation of a bottle from a knowledgeable sales rep. Oh, you like that for [insert reasons here]? Say less.

This is how we discovered Ascheri Barolo which came with glowing reviews and, perhaps more importantly, a rather reasonable price point- an instant sale was had.

Although we do admit we wanted a bit more from this one, we can't overlook its excellent price point for those who want something a bit more intense than a Langhe Nebbiolo and perhaps a little less intense than more robust Barolo you may be used to.

Virna Cannubi Barolo 2012 Review – Complex with Age

When we visited Piedmont, we were fortunate to try many excellent Barolos at wine bars and restaurants. A few bottles were so good that we bought one to bring home.

Virna Cannubi Barolo was one such bottle.

One thing we loved about this one was that we also found a bottle with a bit of age, and decided to give it a try at roughly 13 years of age. It was a real treat!

Produttori del Barbaresco 2019 Review – A Classic Nebbiolo

When we went on our wine tour of Piedmont, we knew we had to stop in Barbaresco town for an afternoon. Naturally, the coop Produttori del Barbaresco has a tasting room right in the heart of Barbaresco town, and within minutes from parking we were in their doors sampling some wine.

Although their base Barbaresco wine is widely distributed and is in most stores we frequent, we also have to admit, this one is delicious!

We picked up a few bottles of their 2019 when in Piedmont to bring home, and cracked open our first one in 2025 to see how it was tasting with just under six years of age.

A & G Fantino Cascina Dardi Barolo Riserva DOCG 2015 Review

Who doesn't love a good Barolo? Intensely aromatic, powerful flavors, and pairs perfectly with some of the richest dishes on the planet.

We realized it had been years since we had opened a Barolo, so we decided to crack open an A&G Fantino Cascina Dardi Barolo Riserva DOCG from our cellar and see how it was developing despite being a rather young wine at approximately eight years old.
