Vinera Wine Society has a long history providing excellent wine to members over the years in their club. This has resulted in a selection of some of the world's best wines, handpicked for every purchasers tastes, likes, and wants.

We received a shipment courtesy of Vinera Wine Society for this review, and loved how they were able to dial in bottle recommendations to our tastes within just a few short questions.

But this one goes well beyond being a wine club and bottle shop- they offer a number of other great perks for members as well!

Curated Wines from Vinera Wine Society

After trying many wine clubs, we noticed that they tend to go through one of two routes. The first is that the club itself often runs on a theme (say, organic/natural wine) and all members are shipped the same bottles, possibly within themed sets (e.g. white, red, mix). The second is a more sommelier-driven club where bottles are selected for your personal tastes by a skilled sommelier.

In a way, Vinera Wine Society bridges the gap and feels a little like both.

Before Vinera Wine Society ships you any wine, you have to take a quick survey. They want to get to know your wine preferences and do so with a quick set of questions about what kinds of wine you like (red, sweet, all, etc.), whether you like Old World or New World wines (or both!), and what elements of wine are important to you (a sense of place, tradition, sustainable practices, etc.).

At its core, these questions are fairly straightforward and likely lump many wine enthusiasts into similar categories. But, coupled with the club's unique wines in their portfolio, it really does open up a sommelier-driven experience all the same.

When our eclectic tastes put in we would try and all wines but lean Old World, we knew they had a challenge ahead of them because, well, that covers a lot! So you can imagine our surprise when our first shipment came in with three truly epic bottles:

    1. Cantina Leverato Merlot 2022 from Veneto, Italy
    2. Roca de les Dotze Noray Garnacha Blend 2022 from Priorat, Spain
    3. Michael Opitz Zweigelt Reserve 2019 from Burgenland, Austria.

What a selection!

Although we are not unfamiliar with any of these regions, we really love that our adventurous wine choices took us to some regions that we do not normally gravitate towards. We often find ourselves drinking Rhone Grenache blends, not Spanish; native grapes from Italy, not a Bordeaux classic; and Zweigelt is a grape that has always been horribly underrepresented in our cellars despite us being quite the fans- and it came as a nearly six-year-old bottle, too!

Suffice it to say, this selection really spoke to us, and we really enjoyed the wines!

More Perks for Members Beyond Wine

vinera Wine Society

Although Vinera Wine Society is a club first and foremost, we'd be remiss if we didn't highlight that this one has far more than your standard club membership.

They sell bottles a la carte, for those who want to buy more of a favorite from each shipment. They have reward tiers (Prestige, Premier, and Grand Cru) where those who reach a spending threshold can get things like virtual private tastings, in-home private wine tastings, exclusive tasting event invites, and wine discounts, to name a few.

The company also offers wine trips that explore regions all over the world, and at the time of publication, they had trips scheduled for more under-the-radar destinations like Puglia, Italy; Croatia; and an Eastern Europe tour in addition to classic destinations like Germany and Tuscany.

Overall, Vinera Wine Society goes well beyond being a wine club, and offers numerous options for wine lovers including handpicked bottles, trips, and more. We certainly got into this one for the wine, and will be looking forward to trying much more very soon!
